Gonna buy some OZ Superleggeras for MY. I'm thinking Gold is best as the car is in 555 blue (74F). Does anyone have any pics of a early model in blue with Gold leggeras? I already have a decent pic of the same with silver ones and one with anthracite.

Thanks

James

Gold gold gold gold gold.

OK, gold it is then! Wasn't aware that they only came in 18". The Dutch dealer told me that the gold ones were difficult to get hold of (I'm in Germany at the momeent). He's quoted me 1680 euro inc Bridgestone SO2's fitted. Reckon that's a good price. I might find out how much 18's are, but don't really want to make the car too tram-liny.

Anyone got any opinions as to whether 17 or 18's are best from an overall driving point of view?

Depends on the sort of roads you drive on. 18s are good for motorways and other smooth roads.

The back roads and potholes I live with make me think that 16s would be better. However, I'm vain, so have 17s and put up with the slight discomfort 18s would be a problem for me I think.

I spend most of my time around Cologne in Germany. There are precious few country lanes here, which I really miss, but the ones I do sometimes go down are in quite good condition. I spend a lot of time on the Autobahns, regularly keeping the speedo between 130 and 150mph for sustained periods (which can be quite hairy cos a lot of the Autobahns have bends which tighten and are a challenge at 130mph+!).

The other thing I use the car for is regular trips to the Nurburgring. It's not a bumpy circuit really, although the 2 banked sections are conrete slabs (god knows how the old F1 cars used to deal with it!). The extra grip of 18's would be appreciated, but I don't want to detract from the car's progressive characteistics on the limit.

I'm thinking that 17's would be the best all round compromise, plus would mean cheaper initial outlay, lower cost sets of raplacement tyres and lightest unsprung weight.

Any more input from anyone on that???

BTW, my Dutch Scoob Dealer friend has a 2002MY Sti with 19's. He says they tramline like hell and are a pain in the **** to live with, but they do look the biz.

Quote from Scoobyworld when I enquired about 17" Super L's in gold..

'Sorry the OZ SL wheels in 17" are only available in Anthracite. The SuperT's are available in Gold though. If you're looking for silver the best choice is 18" SL - we run these on our car and have no problems with rubbing / hard ride.'

I am about to go from 16's to 17's on my MY00, I also believe 17's will be the best compromise, and they look better.

Cool

Go for BOTH! That is antracite and gold, not silver

Like this on 555blue:
I haven't decided but I do actually think I like the look of the antracite better than the gold. A bit more discrete while still a bit racing, and suits the car colour very well. But I am always happy when I can bring the gold ones out dressed with Bridgestone RE540 for the occasional trackday
(AVO coilovers on the antracite pics.)
