Changing Brake Pads - Do I need to do front & rear?

I need to change my front pads, the rear pads are ok. I am going to put the Prodrive upgrade pads on the front, question is should I be doing front & rear or is it ok to just do the front ones?

Si,
Although the fronts do the majority of braking, you should still try to compliment the fronts with good rears. Saying that whether you need to upgrade your rears having just Prodrive pads on the fronts is debateable. If you'd install a large 6-pot AP kit then I'd say, upgrade your rear pads.
John Banks had upgraded his front discs and pads (keeping his MY00 4-pot calipers). He recently upgraded his rear pads and felt his car was more composed at the rear under heavy braking.
Personally I'd leave the rears alone with just uprated pads on the fronts. Save your money for discs and then upgrade the rears at a later date if you feel the back end squirms around too much under braking.
I'd also recommend getting some braided hoses and DOT4/5.1 fluid when you upgrade the fronts.

The vast majrity of braking is carried out on the front wheels.
Think about the pyhsics involved the weight of the car shifts forwards and the front tyres deform to give a larger surface are. It is also a pushing force which is much stronger than the dragging for from the now lighter back wheels.
I have changed the OEM pads to DS2500, gone through a set of them and upgraded to six pots (with DS2500 pads). I am still on the same set of rear pads, 38,000 miles on!!
You changed the pads when you need to.
