I am running 18" prodrive wheels with 225/40/18 toyos, if i have a puncture i cannot use the get you home spare, could i use my 17" standard wheel with the 215/45/17 as this vertually has the same rolling circ, would it cause any damage or could i just carry on?

I'd have though providing rolling diameter is the same then you should be able to limp home as the car won't be lob sided!!! Best to let the Nissan Micra 1.0L's pass you though!!!!

Steve, what's your car? New or old-shape?
The space saver will only bugger your transmission if you've fitted the wrong tyres. In which case your speedo and gearing will also be out of kilter. But if you take it steady, even with a mismatch it should get you home okay.
What size are the OEM tyres for your car? What have you got fitted, and what size is the spare?
If rolling radius is with 1/2% you shouldn't worry.
Regards,
Richard.
PS Usual problem with space-savers is they don't fit over big front brake upgrades.
