Gave the brakes a roasting last night on a wee run through the twisties with Sipie. We pulled over to talk performance for minute or two and then continued. I came to the first roundabout and began to brake and almost had to put the brake pedal to the floor
before I got any response from them (we are talking loads of travel). They finally responded and then the brake 'biting point' came back up very quickly.
They seem fine today but I'd like to know what happened and why and how/if I can avoid it again....and yes........I did crap myself

Whoops - I guess you just cooked the brake fluid sitting in the calipers.....
Never stop the car if the brakes are hot unless you really have to - give them a chance to cool down first.
I assume you didn't actually have the brakes applied while you were stopped, else you'd have probably warped the discs too![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Doh, doh and double doh!!! Sipie and I are standing there quite the thing till we see heat coming from all four corners of each car and then it clicks that perhaps we should have had a cool down run for a while ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Do the braided hoses and uprated fluids make much of a difference. Think I got away with it as the disks and brakes in general seem fine today.

I had DOT 4 Silkolene Pro Race (as good as most DOT 5s) and braided hoses done at the same time as uprated Pads & Discs.
Certainly improves the feel of the pedal and, as Tesco say, Every little helps

I've fitted braided hoses to every car and bike I've owned. The fact that rubber hoses slowly absorb moisture (which lowers the boiling point) and expand under pressure is enough to worry when breaking hard.
Brake upgrades must be the best option....
I've cooked the brakes on a very very fast Kawasaki ZX9R (modified), but once the Goodridge hoses and EBC pads were fitted - nothing, even after a metal blast for 250/300 miles.
