Looks like I might be needing some new pads and discs on my MY99 Turbo, its all standard power right now and still has the standard 4 pot calipers, I dont really want to replace the discs and pads with the same standard ones, what kind of thing could I replace them with without going too mad, I've had drilled and grooved before on previous cars and they were great but wore out quickly, I do 30miles each way to work and back every day so is it worth me getting grooved and drilled or will they wear out quickly, obviously replacing them every 6months will cost too much!

Suggestions, i'm sure many of you have done this before.

Standard calipers, so a couple of options.

ScoobySport Pagid discs + pads (although somebody posted recently about being able to good prices on Pagid, have a flick back)

TSL Group N discs + DS2500 pads

Godspeed

I've got the TSL setup and happy with it It's done 15k miles now but not checked the pad wear recently...

Interesting, I'll speak to TSL, but according to my dealer the pads and discs are fine and that my ABS light came on for another reason maybe, but I know I need some discs soon anyway, I'll hassle Paul @ TSL for a discount since my spoiler was cracked

Thumbs up

Same here - went for TSL Grp N+. Big improvement and only slightly grooved. I did speak to them and they can get them without the grooves.

Sorry if I'm being stoopid and missing the point but why would you want them without the grooves or less grooves. Grooved are better?

Anyway I have also opted for the TSL Group N's after being messed around by the 2nd supplier mentioned in the ChrisB's post. Going up to TSL on Monday to get them fitted so I can let you know how I get on.

Just a note to say it's also worth changing the brake lines as well,Goodridge hoses cost about £50 ,well worth it.

because the grooves make the pads wear out quicker as well as aiding cooling, so for people who do lots of mileage its important to have brakes which dont constantly need new pads!

I had Pagid pads, Group N+ discs, braided hoses, 5.1 dot fluid fitted(ie the Scoobysport Group N+ set up). In a word superb for road use.

Again I got them for a lot less than Scoobysport are selling them for. However this was through a favour but I am sure someone else got them just as cheap and maybe able to help you out if you go that route. When we are talking cheaper, I mean a lot cheaper! Check out the other posts.

By the way how much did you pay for your tsl spoiler, painted and delivered? I've seen the pics, it looks good. I am after one, I will need to wait until tsl say we can have another group buy!!

Pagid discs and pad setup is fantastic, just fitted it to my MY00 Turbo, big difference in braking. Paid £164 for the discs (8 groove identical to Scoobysport) and also got RS 421 pads from Performance Braking in Monmouth, 01600 713117. Give 'em a call, ask for Jill, they have them in stock I believe. Very helpful place.
