Hi,

Quickish question. My MY99 UK turbo is making a noise when braking. Its hard to describe, but when you slow down and have almost stopped, I can hear a rubbing noise, almost like a rumble without any vibration.

The disks look quite worn on the front, and there appears to be some black/dark rings developing towards the centre of the area the pad would touch. The lip on the edge is quite deep too.

Does this mean I need new disk, or pads, or both or none. Its my first turbo so this may be normal!

Question

It may just be the discs slightly out of true or ridged and the pads rubbing on the high spots.
Or it could be just the pad material.
If there's no vibrating when braking/slowing and there's a bit of life left on the pads I shouldn't worry unduly about it

if there's a noticeable "lip" on the disc you should really get this checked! it sounds like your discs are about shot......
any advice/info. give me a shout,
