Huge amounts of understeer

Started to get understeer. Checked tyre pressures. Whoops they were low. Now with the correct pressures the understeer is back. When I first got the car it felt like it was driving on rails and would not leave the road under any conditions. Am I just getting used to the car and expecting too much or do I have a problem?
