Can tips or advice on changing the rear brakes pads on a MY00 UK car??

I've got these instructions from Scoobymods and someone has said I'd need to get some copper grease for the back of the pads.

Anything else I need to consider?

Don't think so. I took mine off too check and had no problems. I bought some copper grease from Halfords, but any motor factors would have some. I did spray the caliper bolts with loads of WD40 a couple of hours beforehand just to make removing them easier.

The only consideration is getting the right pad since some MY99/00 have different shapes to them. Some have lugs, some don't. My MY99 RB5 has lugs (I think that's the most common).

All I did was jack the car up, remove the wheel. Undo the two caliper bolts and wrestled the caliper off the disc. The discs just popped out IIRC. I smeared some grease on the backs and popped them back on. I had to squeeze the pads slightly to force the pistons in a tad to slip it back onto the disc.

I put some more copper grease in the threads of the caliper bolts when I put them back on.

I'm not sure if you should torque up the bolts - I just did them tight enough as the car was going into the garage a day later to get the fronts upgrade and all the calipers painted.

Until I sort out the brakes properly I'm going to be a cheap skate!!

The pads are nearly dead on my MY00 with 66k miles on them!! I have a set in my garage from my old MY99 with about 30k on them, so they should fit!

Off to Halfords at lunch time then! (and I'll try not to buy any neons!! )

If you don't have some bungee cords, get some when you're down at Halfords. I used them to hang the caliper from the suspension springs while I removed and re-fitted the pads.

Undo 1 bolt & the caliper should lift up. Pull out the old pads & put the new ones in. Use a G clamp to close the pistons, put it back over the pads & put the bolt back in. I just put copper grease on the bolt as it tends to get a bit stuck.

I hope a MY99 rear caliper is the same as a MY95 If so it's a 20 minute job
