AP Ripoff?
#1
I was looking at the Demon Tweeks catalogue the other night. What I want to know is, if you can get AP calipers for £200-300 each and disks for about £200-250 each, how come a full kit costs £1700?
Surely that's a lot of money for a set of braided hoses and a pair of mounting plates that you could get custom fabricated for far, far less?

the kit comes with
2 x disks
2 x disk mounting bells and fixings
2 x calipers
2 x mounting brakets
2 x braided hoses
4 x High Tensile Allen bolts
1 x set of brake pads
1 x brake fluid
You are pating for the hardware plus the development costs, you could make this up from parts off the shelf, but you would have to get some disk bells made and anodised after designing them and producing a drawing for a machine shop. Same goes for the brake mounting brakets too.

Don't you get bells when you buy the discs? If not, they're only another 40 notes, aren't they? So it is really just the mounting plates that are the extra beyond what was mentioned previously.
