i have just bought some new wheels & tyres as a package from Top Gear

the package i ordered was 17" BK238 in gold with Federal SS595 tyres as advertised here

However, when the wheels and tyres turned up the tyres actually fitted wern't the ones as advertised, in fact they are NANKANG ULTRA-SPORT NS-II with a completely different tread pattern

Anyone heard of or used NANKANG, are they similar in performance to Federal, could this be why they fitted them instead ???

AFAIK Nankan is a budget tyre, I had them on my wheels when i got them as a package with the scoob, BK238's same as yours.

Now whilst I though yeah okay cheap cr4p they lasted me 22k before I had to do the fronts, and the backs still had 3mil+ tread on them.

Have since put goodyear gsd3's on and have to replace the fronts after 9k

yeh, i read that whilst doing a search. the tyres which were supposed to be fitted are federal ss595's, are these budget tyres as well ? if not i think i've been ripped off.

If the company advertise the package comes with federals (i'm assuming these are better than NANKANG) and i got these budget tyres instead, where do i stand

Dont know what the federals are like, but imho the nankang i had really werent that bad, if u r gonna go for a budget tyre, with regards to your rights, if u ordered them with federals them I would expect them to be delivered with federals, unless somewhere in the small print they have put "we reserve the right to subtitute with similar type and quality" etc

however i dont really know where you stand because you have started using them, this may deem acceptance on your part.

all in my opinion

Both Nankang and Federal are big tire brands in Taiwan. Federal SS595 are popular budget tyre comparing to SO-2(head to head performance except for half the price in TW & last longer). The only downside I heard form some GT owners is they wish the side wall were stiffer.
Too bad I can not get the SS595 in Canada or I'll get it a try.
