I'm running 17" rims at the moment and have just spotted some nice 19" competition style wheels.. as my Type R is intended as serious fast road car and not some tarts handbag, will 19" detract from the handling ??
p.s. the wheels will be flat black and not tarty silver or gold

My thoughts
If the 19" wheel/tyre weighs the same as the 17" and also keeps the same rolling circumference then the only negative effects is on the ride of the car, due to less flexing of the tyre sidewalls. This can give more responsivenes on a smooth surface due to less tyre roll, or could give poor handling on broken tarmac as it skips over the bumps.
If any wheel/tyre combo weighs more than your current package I wouldn't bother IMO
