Hi ppl, is it normal for the brakes 2 make a clonking noise, it seems 2 happen when i reverse and then brake and then again when first applying brakes in a forward gear! Its well weird but b4 i take it 2 the dealer i wonder if any one has suffered with the problem if it is one!
U know damn well that when i go down to recreate it, it aint gonna do it!

My STi7 breaks don't clunk, but they squeal like mad when I use them in reverse. It sounds like a milk float!
I doubt if the clunking is anything other than the pads re-seating themselves for the other direction.
I have had other cars with clunking break pads and it has been cured by putting copper slip on all the bits, I suspect that break cleaner washes all this off when the cars get serviced.

rather squeek when cold, or going backwards than clonking. Clonking would worry me.
And I can live with squeeks when cold cos the Pagid's stick the car on it's nose when warmed up!
They do create a LOT of break dust though, which is a pain with my new chromes!

find a better dealer then. They should test drive the car, not give it stick!!
Get Blitz gauges with memory sets in them so you can see how hard they revved it then tell them off !!

Just try moving the pads in the calipers when cold, they will move slightly although there is no possible way they can come out,i expect when warmed up the clonking mainly goes away, had this problem on my STI7 was really worried had it checked in a few garages and all said the same thing, honestly dont worry.
