Question

Thinking of changing the 16 inch alloys on my 98MY turbo for 17's,purely for improved handling.Car currently has 99MY 4 pots so would need alloys to clear these and possibly Godspeed 335mm conversion at later date.Have been looking at OZ Super T's,Fox 3 Evo and the range from Rimstock/100+,any information/feedback with regard to offset etc would be gratefully received as would info regarding tyre choice.205/45 17 choices are ltd 215/40 17 more to choose from but any handling downsides?.Wet weather handling/grip would be my main area of concern so your comments would be appreciated.

Question

Thanks for the reply,,not too keen on the centre cap/bolthole style on SuperL,,prefer Super T but wondering if any decent,,cheaper options as I am a cheapskate SOB (according to my friends).Don't want to waste my money on rubbish but any other suggestions ?.On the subject of tyres, heard different opinions on whether tramlining is an issue with 215/40/17's.Just seems that the Toyo and Goodyear F1 only available in this size and the only real option in 205/45/17 is the Pirelli but once again had conflicting reports on wet weather grip.

Super L's are popular 'cos of their weight, being very light. As for tyres, if wet handling is your priority, I think you're right in going for either Toyo or F1.

Edited to add... I've only heard of tramlining being a problem on Bridgestone SO3, and then it's mostly on 16"s. F1s are supposed to tramline a little when worn, but I've yet to experience this.
