Have owned my MY99 WRX Wagon here in Japan for just a fortnight, but need to uprate the brakes urgently. Spongey pedal and not a great deal of confidence it's going to stop. Don't think it was fade, not getting enough speed up to really generate that amount of heat.

Not intending to change the wheels or disks, and as there is no "Subaru" embossing on the front calipers have to assume it has 2 pot brakes. Therefore looking at pads, brake fluid and maybe braided hoses.

Does anyone know any Japanese manufacturers of pads, fluids etc ? Must be a local equivalent of the AP's/Pagid/Gospeeds etc. I hope I don't have to ship stuff from the UK, bit like taking coals to Newcastle !

Cheers,
Gary

AP's are sold the world over, so you're bound to find a supplier in Japan. Or even import the stuff from Oz.

Whatever you do, don't import from the UK - it'll cost an absolute fortune. Everyone in the UK tries to find bargains outside our country; you'd be mad to try and find a bargain here.

Have a look at "Endless" or "Project u".
Guess they are the equivalent of AP over here, although much better.
Makes me wonder that you are over there and looking for brake stuff, the choice of pads/disks/fluids/ hoses etc. is 100 times bigger than in Europe.

Gary, give me a hoot on the yahoo LegacyB4 group - I'll give you the run down on stuff in Japan. I'm Anton...

Btw, the best pads IMHO would be Project Myu HC Titan Kai - great bite from low to high temps, just expect a bit of noise at town speeds Not cheap, but the real deal. Get some SS lines, not cheap here, but make a big difference. There are heaps of good local brands for fluid too, APP is a good one. AP Lockheed is fine too.

But let's get in touch - maybe we can get together for some fun!

Cheers

Hi Anton,

That's the type of advice I'm looking for

Have tried to join the yahoo LegacyB4 group but I'm having some difficulties. I'll try emailing you @apexjapan instead.

Cheers,
Gary
