AP Brakes
#1
At the moment I am using standard 4 pot front calipers with GroupN Disks on my 99 impreza turbo. I am looking to change them but would like to continue using 16" wheels for Track Days. If I go for an AP Braking System I would have to exchange for another 4 pot caliper. Can they make that much difference?
Thanks

APs are good, no question about that. But the standard Subaru calipers are not as bad as some make out - it's the discs that are sh1te. The Godspeed upgrade using standard calipers but good quality two-piece discs and better pads seems to work well and is good value.
The major benefit of the AP calipers is that they're alloy so they shed heat quickly and don't boil your fluid. And the difference in weight is astonishing, obviously benefiting unsprung weight.
If you're keen on track days, I would say you will end up with APs anyway. Ask Ian Godney - he'll sell you either.
Richard.

AP 6 pot's the last brake upgrade you will ever buy - fact
sorry just read the 16" rim bit ! So it's 4 pot AP's for you . . . . not much in it by all accounts. I could not be asked upgrading later on and running 18" anyway.

Just done my first track day at Oulton Park using AP 4 pots(easy to fit) with pagid blue pads supplied by the really helpful ASPerformance (thanks Alyn)results gobsmacking, forget your scooby 4 pots just buy AP,s and you will never want anything else. I didn,t realise just how much difference they really made.

I'm converted for life with the AP's, having had a set on the Evo & now a set on the Scoob - both 6-pots I'm afraid, but the 4-pots aren't much off the performance I'm told.
I'd pay the extra as well for the 6's & get your wheel upgrade, but worth it for the 4-pots if you don't anyway

Thanks All
I,m now converted.
Sounds like I should have done this a long time ago and saved £££
ie.4 sets of front disks, lost count on the amount of pads used & 2 front bearings, due to over heating.
AP here I come.
