After trying to get decent quotes on Eagle F1s best being £400, finally decided on Yokahama AVS Sports, as reccomended by my local rally centre, also changed my size to 205/40/17 from 215/40/17 as he told me the 205 is the proper size for a 17" wheel and Yokahama don't do a 215/40/17 in the AVS for this reason. He tells me that it will stop the tyres wearing so much on the outside as they won't bulge out so far.

Anyway £293 all in for 4 tyres fitted and balanced, he can do A539 at the moment for £53 a tyre in 215/40/17s.

Well chuffed to say the least.

Interesting
see my post on bridgestone tyre wear could account for some of this.

Would really like to see some more views on th validity of his claim though

I presume you're talking classic shape? If so Prodrive recommend 205/45/17,the reason for using 215/40/17 is to maintain the correct wheel/tyre rolling radius so that the speedo readings remain within acceptable margins for error.I have heard people say they have suffered from tramlining with 215/40/17 fitted but the Toyo T1 and Goodyear F1 don't seem to be available in a 205/45/17 and seem to be the most highly rated tyres amongst Impreza drivers.

Voices,

That's the trouble on here though everyone on here reccomends those two tyres, so no one will buy anything else because those two are supposidly the best, but to get the best out of the top tyres (ands to see the difference) you need to be a proffesional driver, which not many of us are. So therefore lots of people on here (and i would of put myself in this catogory a few days ago) are possibly spending money they needent spend.

James.
