Which pads
#1
I have an import WRX STi version 4, 1998, with 4 pots on the fronts, and front cross-drilled discs.
1) Currently I'm using red stuff but when I drive the car hard and use the brakes a lot I get a lot of fade. Can anyone recommend a good pad. I'm being offered Mintex 1155's or Ferodo FDB's. Are these any good at all? I'm thinking cost here as well.
2) I used to drive a Calibra Turbo. I thought thre brakes on that were pretty useless. I used to have to stand on them to get the car to stop. Now I have the Scooby I find that I have to do the same. Are all the cars supposed to be like this?

Andy,
I have a similar brake setup to you on my MY98 UK, and I've used several different types of pad;
Mintex 1155 - very reasonably priced, good performance, but very dusty.
Pagid Blue - fantastic performance, but very expensive.
Ferodo DS2500 - best combination of performance and price.
If you haven't already done it, I would recommend braided steel brake lines (about £60 front and back), DOT 5.1 fluid (£20?) and maybe a brake support bracket (about £50).
Hope this helps,
Tony

Thanks for that m8.
What about your brakes. Do you have to stand on yours as well? My mate has a xsara VTS and the brakes are superb. And the Alfa 156's are just as good. Perhaps my servo is too small, or summik?

Pagid RS15 ....if you're a serious 'braker' !
(With Pagid (Scoobysport) discs, braided hoses, DOT 5.1 , bracket and some guts.....brakes like h...)
Downside :
RS15's do eat 'metal' ..and geuss where that comes from.
Fading doesn't exist anymore...and that's where things(can)go wrong ...Just don't overdue on track , cool things down properly..
