just got a set of 2nd hand p1 alooys with pirelli tyres all round and they have about 6mm tread all over, decided to put my foot down in the wet yesterday and as soon as i started to hit near 4000rpm the car started wheel spinning and i could feel the car sliding so i just backed off the accelerator a little, am i going to have problems like this all the time with these tyres or was i just unlucky,as ill put goodyears on if these are like this all the time

I've had my P1 for almost 2 months with Pirellis and have no complaints at all. Although these are 18's - have you checked the pressures?

IMO P-Zero Pirelli tyres stand up well in the dry, but when it starts to rain they are pretty poor to be honest!!

Best tyre on the market at the moment is the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's, they are amazingly grippy in the dry and in the wet they just grip and grip and grip... Awesome tyres, and usually cheaper than Pirelli, which is a nice wee Brucey Bonus!!

Cheers,
Grant

I have P Neros 225/40/18 they have now covered 13000 miles and still have 4mm tread left. They are fantastic in the wet or dry and try as I mint they stick like the proverbial so I would definately get them again.

There have been various P Zero's over the years and at the moment I think there are 4 different types available from Pirelli. So be careful just saying P Zero, the new P Zero Nero is totally different to the P Zero's that were fitted to P1's etc 3 years ago.

I'm tempted with the 'nero's' has anyone else had any experience of these...I didn't find the 'Rosso's' to be the best in the dry or wet!

Also has anyone tried the P Zero C Corsa cup tyres as I need a set of track day tyres?

Cheers

Dom in EVO magazine last year 2003 they ran a long term Evo7 and went through the usual Michellin Pilot sport , Bridgestone , ect which they Knackered after 4500 miles!! In the end they put a set of P Neros on which they were more than happy with, both for fast road use and track days and these they reckoned was a good overal compromise with on the limit feel on the track ,and acceptable wear rates for the road.

Hope this helps with your choise

Regards

John

Oh. I see that you've already rated them, I'm defo. going for a set of Nero's as I've only heard good reports about them. Do you find that they make more road noise?

Cheers

I'm just going to order some for my M5 as I need some new rubber to replace the rubbish dunlops, I'll see how these perform and then look at replacing the Scooby tyres.

Cheers

I put Neros (205/50ZR16) on my MY99 3 or 4 weeks back. They were a bit scary until they'd scrubbed in properly but after a hundred miles or so they're brilliant. Very grippy and i've not managed to unstick them either in the wet or dry (yet - touch wood!).

Would definately recommend them.
