I have the 16 inch AP 4 pots that fit under the original 16 inch Scoob alloys

The discs are the grooved type and I need some new discs.

I'm trying to get hold of them but am informed theres two types - DPP?(SP?) and another type?.....

Can anyone tell me the difference and what I'm most likely to have as I dont have the original box and it just says 16inch AP 4 pots on the invoice?

These were put on just over 2 years ago onto an sti5 my1999

I'm also informed that theres 2 different types of brake pad for the rear discs - can someone tell me what I should have on the rear for the my99 sti5 on standard rear discs - I've ordered pads before but not been told there are 2 different types of pad (the fitment of the pad - not the grade of pad)

Help would be appreciated as a need to sort this out asap

Rgds

What size discs do you have , 304mm x 28mm ? the different types are the amount of vanes , or if there grooved or drilled , If you are stuck I have my own discs that will fit the AP bells

The pads are different shapes , look at the pic , they have lugs sticking out or cutouts on the end of the pads

Hope this helps
Cheers Ian

Thanks for the piccy of the brakes - makes things a bit clearer - will be able to check that tomorrow

Re the Discs - they are the size you quote I believe - I'll get the ruler out tomorrow and are grooved

What are 'vanes'

Rgds and thanks for the help and the offer

the vanes are in effect the walls in between the 2 halves of discs , they can have either 24 or 48 , the more the better for heat sink and strength

if its an sti5 '99 (and not tyre R) then you will need the lower pad shape with the extended lugs..........

I also need a new set of discs for this kit.How much am I looking at for genuine AP discs, anybody know?.

My current discs have loads of cracks near the center line of the disc non of which go within 1/4 inch of the edges.

I reckon they are OK to use,I'm sure I read on the AP website that cracks were OK so long as they didn,t run to the edges, but Mr jobsworth MOT man got all high and mighty.I hate taking my car for an MOT

Thanks again

Easy to check the brake pads - its the bottom one like has been stated.........

Re the Discs I now have the AP part number for them so hopefully will get somewhere

Re AP prices - plenty of people sell them and you dont tend to get too much price difference - unless I'm mistaken
