ABS seems to kick in early

When braking sharply my ABS seems to want to react quicker than I would expect.

Any ideas?

MY97 UK wagon with 4 pots off a bugeye and goodridge lines/ds2500 pads.

Question

Your ABS kicking in normally means loss of traction, what tyres do you have fitted?

Happens with both 18" Toyo Proxes with 5mm and 16" SO3s with 6mm.

ABS sensor needs looked at?

In the US, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration is carrying out an investigation into Subaru's ABS brakes because of numerous complaints.
