As a resolution to my 'Aaaargh' thread in Gen. Tech. I now need to replace 2 RB5 alloys which are buckled.
Question is will I be able to get these under warranty? The car has only done 33k and I have not kerbed it nor hit any pot holes, just normal driving on normal UK roads (ie, crap). I would not expect alloys with this low mileage to simply buckle. So where do I stand?

Advice appreciated.

Blobby, not yet convinced by the other thread. Those Prodrive wheels are good and don't just buckle by themselves, after four years of running true.

As suggested, have you actually run the car with different wheels and found it okay? Strongly suggest this test, with PROVEN GOOD wheels. It could be lots of things, and this will identify the wheels, or not.

Warranty on an RB5? I doubt it. But if the wheels are to blame, they could be straightened if they're not too bad. And unless you've clobbered summat, they can't be bad. On the other hand, if they aren't too bad and have been properly balanced, you probably wouldn't notice anything wrong! Bit of a puzzle.

Do the swapped wheel test first, before reaching conclusions. Are you 100% certain it was bolloxed BEFORE the new tyres were fitted? I've had tyre-monkeys with a massive lever bend my (cheap, crap) alloys before

I'm basing all this on a fair bit of bad experience and the knowledge that a) wheels don't buckle for no reason and b) Prodrive wheels are strong.

Just trying to help. It's worth the extra effort as wheels/tyres are expensive to replace

Richard.

Main dealer had the car up and demonstrated the 'oval' wheels. Quite noticeable, although no apparent marks from pot-holing etc.
Am going to have a run with STI wheels to be 100% as you say, Hoppy.
I wondered about warranty because there's no signs of impact, it's as if the wheels have just lost their shape.

Thanks for the replies.
I will post on progress, or lack of it.
