Question

Do the 294 mm Prodrive front discs offer a worthwhile improvement over the standard brakes on a 02 WRX?

Not really, look at alternatives, which are probably cheaper, such as Pagid , TSL, Tarox, Black Diamond etc.
For better braking it's down to your pads so invest in a good set such as Pagid, Ferodo DS2500's and some S/S brakelines.

Rich, better braking is fundamentally down to discs, with pads to suit. As Ian Godney (from the Godspeed link you've given) will confirm.

The Prodrive upgrade discs are good. As are the Pagids, or especially Godspeed two-piece. Don't know about the others.

Richard.
