Default Brake pads

Had the MOT done on my 99 Impreza Turbo the other day and they have 'advised' on pads all round - are these an easy job on these cars for the DIY mechanic because the chap in the garage was mentioning something about special tools needed or something!

Anyone done their own or know how to do it - I've done brakes on other cars before so I'm not completely inexperienced (honest)!?

Cant comment specifically on Scooby's but generally pads are fairly easy to replace by someone with some knowlegde of cars. (So far on all my cars / bikes anyway, basic tools required.)

"Special Tools" sounds to me a bit like a sales line trying to get your business!

there easy, two pins and a spring, done them a few time now, once when cleaning out and again when painting the caliper. you will have to take the caliper of though, but again its no big job.

Are these the same on the newer calipers as fitted on the 99 models!? The guy in the garage was on about that maybe you will need a special tool to wind back in the caliper piston - is there, or do you have to use a specific method? Or is it a case of pushing/squeezing the piston with a g clamp or the like!?

Cheers
