Advice Wanted On Tyres for 17"
#1
Hi,
I have a set of 17x7 wheels on order (see my post from a few days ago) and I'm going for Michelins 205-45/17s. I decided that I wanted the reduced sidewall flex (and better look of 17s) without the loss of steering feel and slightly increased tramlining associated with 215s.
The Michelin where recommended to me as excellent wear and performance compromise, however you can also get Pirelli and Dunlop at 205/45/17.

Guys, My MY97 4dr runs Gold Superturismo wheels. The tyre size is 205/45 ZR17 & am using Pirelli assymetrico pzeros. This set up came with the car when I bought it a year ago (but had only just been fitted). The tyres appear to wear well, so they far have covered around 10k miles, they still have some life in them. The car is prone to tramlining though, which can be irritating. However I think they look great !!.
The main problem is that this type of wheel is very tedious to clean and the rims are very succeptible to kerbing (as they stand proud of the tyrewall). I am told that the tyres cost around £130 each to replace.
Hope this helps.

Wall,
But he said they mustn't cost the Earth, which rules out most of the decent Michelins. Which ones do you have, the Pilot Sports?
Hermanator, if you can get a good price on Bridgestone S02 Pole Positions, these are pretty unbeatable in 17" size. Goodyear Eagle F1s are also worth a look.

Above you quote 17" SO2s @ £480 all in for 4, in another post you quote £115+VAT each - which is it? I have a friend from Derby who if they will do it for £480 will have a set, but if it is £115+VAT (ie £540 all in) he will get them from Wigan for £499 as it is equi-distant for him.
Thanks
