Question

Excuse the ignorance, but whats the difference except for the colour?/ Do they come in a choice of colours from AP

No they are different. The old black caliper was based on a racing caliper. The new red caliper is based on something else. Thats why the new big disc, red caliper, set-up is cheaper than the old black caliper, 330mm disc set-up.
