What have you all done with the alloy bells? Have you just left them bare or is there any way to keep them looking as good as new?

When I first got mine, I laquered them, then that turned to ****, so now they're just left to get filthy!

You could get them anodized (spelling?) or cover them in some heat resistant paint (brake caliper lacquer, for example).

I just left mine bare and they've tarnished over the winter. Suppose I could get them polished and then protected if I was too bothered.

I thought along the same lines as RON, with the laquer and all, but I would imagine the heat removes the paint pretty quick.

I suppose the other option is to remove the bells and have them coated in some way, but that means the car being off the road again.

I have been using some metal polish, BelGom I think, from M&P (motorcycle bits) and this seems to keep the tarnishing away. The problem with this is that it needs doing at least once a week, which can be a real pain.

Never mind, let the b*ggers corrode, unless Mr Godney has any ideas on whats best?

You need to get them hard anodised...this will sort it, you can choose colours from black, green, blue, red, gold etc...will be about 75 min order charge but for that you can fill the anodising bath so you might get around 10 bells in there at a time so its quite cheap....turn around should be around a week.

Hope this helps.

I would, but the time off road and shipping costs would make in unrealistic (for me anyway). Would be a good idea if Ian could offer this on his new kits.

Ozzy,

What about if we all complain to Ian that they are not up to the standard we would expect from him? maybe he would replace our bells with nice new shiny annodized ones!!!

Only joking Ian, but yes it wouls make them more appealing to others.

Car goes out in all weathers
Clean it when I get time (usually twice a month)

Got the bells anodised blue before fitting them about 18months ago (2nd group buy)

I had a local place do them along with a run of thier stuff. Cost me £20 CASH
2 day turn around!!!

Thanks
That was an early photo.
The bolt heads have tarnished a little, but the anodising is still perfect.

It will scratch like paint so you do have to be carful taking the wheels off but it's 10 times better than paint
