Smile 225x45x17 v 215x45x17 tyre swap

Will someone please confirm that I CAN put my 215x45 17 tyres off my gunmetal alloys (MY03) onto some gold alloys off a MYO3 STi, the gold alloy rims are 7 and a half inches wide and my gunmetal rims are 7 inches wide. Problem is not very good tramlining with the 225's, also heavier steering and more interior noise! So what I want is the nice gold alloys with my nice 215's, which incidentally seem to have a much softer compound. (Bridgestone RE 050. The 225's are Bridgestone RE 040)

Of course you can. I'm currently using 215/45-17 F1 XLs (xtra-load) with sti7 wheels on my legacy. 215 is about the lower limit for that wheel width but it works fine.
