Question Refurbished wheel too bright?

I've been offered a set of OZ gold alloys but one of the set of 4 wheels has been refurbished and looks brighter than the other 3.

Apparently the dealer has said that with use and brake dust etc that over a few weeks the colour will dull down, anyone know if this is true or just trying it on?

The wheels have not been fitted to a car since one has been refurbished.

Thanks,

Andy.

Your dealer's having a bubble, mate. Is he suggesting that you drive around with just the one bright wheel until such a time as it becomes sufficiently 'weathered' that it matches the other 3???

Tell him you'll give it a go, and in a few weeks, when they're all the same colour, that's when you'll return to the dealership and pay for them, but not before. See if he's still confident then.

Sorry, he could be right. If you never wash them, then yes, with enough brake dust covering them, they will eventually look the same colour!

Can't believe the cheek of this guy.

I'm only relaying what the chap who has them was told. I find it hard to believe myself but thought I'd ask for a few opinions from others.

I'll make a few calls tomorrow to a couple of refurb companies and see what they say too.

Thanks,

Andy.

IIRC the wheels should be covered in a clear lacquer. The underlying colour shouldn't change, but I suppose as the lacquer gets weathered it will dull-down. I certainly wouldn't be convinced myself.

I was always told to either get all 4 done (for obvious reasons) or just one side of the car.
