Tyres for my Saab 9000 Aero...........!
#1
As some of you will know, I swaped my '93 WRX for the Aero last Sept, and I now need a new set of tyres. I can't comment on the OE tyres (Michellin HX Pilots) other then to say there was next to zero wet weather traction pulling away, but with 260lb/ft+ of torque through the front wheels, I am not altogether surprised.
Question then goes out to all those who own / have owned powerful front drive cars, and what tyre do you recommend? I had Proxes T1-Ss in on the Scoob, and was very impressed with wear rate and progressive breakaway - will they be as effective on a front drive car? Should I be considering SO-2s? Please remember that I am in the market for Z-rated tyres, so price does become somewhat of an influencing factor (I have been quoated £154 a corner for OE Michellins in 205/55-16s!!!)
At the end of the day, I will probably go with the Toyos again, but all info welcome. My No.1 priority is wet weather grip (and if you drove this car, you would know why!)- I have read that this is where the Goodyear F1s excel - any comments?
Cheers and regards,
Zip

Just swapped my RE010s for F1s. Wet weather grip seems much improved, and not at the expense of dry grip. Not tried the Toyos though. Wouldn't recommend PZeros for wet weather grip.
From what I hear, Toyos are a cheaper alternative to the F1s.
