Has anybody used brakes made by hi-spec. They sell a monster kit 335x33 with either willwood or there own billett calipers for around £800 ex vat. This includes pads, bells & braided pipes.

I've been using a set of these for the past 6 months. I paid a bit more (£950+VAT I think with 10% SIDC discount), and got the kit with AP 5200 calipers (tried and trusted technology, with a wide range of pads available at a very good price).
No fade so far, despite some hard use and one wet track day (Brands Hatch).
Got another track day at Knockhill on the 17th, so will hopefully be able to give some feedback on dry track performance.

Using the Hi Spec brake setup on my Scoob for the last 18 months. Excellant...
Got Wilwood Superlites with 335x32mm disks. Got 3 grooves per side on the disks for deglazing.
To put some peoples minds at rest about the calipers. I replaced ther pads yesterday (Wilwoods to EBC greens). First time they had been touched in 18 months. Took the old pads out and disk off (it just comes off when the pads are out). Sprayed the pistons with WD40 and cleaned the crud off them and they were perfect. No corrosion at all - unlike some have reported because the calipers have no dust seals. Pushed the pistons in, new pads and all is hunky dory.
Got the new pads from Hi Spec 'cos I was in a hurry and they even gave me 4 new split pins in case the old ones gave up the ghost when I removed them. (Each caliper has one large split pin the hold the pads in place).
Top brakes.
Oh, and I had Wilwwod Poly 'D' pads before. Superb when they had some heat in them but not so great around town. With less than 100 miles on them the EBC Greens have much more bite when cold. And they were £38 inc TOTAL for the Wilwoods (i.e. 2 sets of pads).

Mark - when I was there on Saturday (10th) they told me that they are still awaiting some parts before they finish up their own calipers. They only had a couple of sets completed - I presume for testing purposes.
Don't take all that as gospel, it was just a brief conversation. Give them a ring to find out.

As a sideline, Geoff fitted some 325x28mm "monster" disks to my car about nine months ago, along with bells and brackets.
Using the standard 2-pots it gave a big improvement on braking (on the road at least - I haven't tried them on a track!)
Cost £350 + VAT then - well worth it if the full kit is more than you want to spend.
Thanks
Gavin

Mark,
I believe that the brackets etc are different for using OE calipers and aftermarket ones but best to ask Geoff direct.
Gary,
When I last spoke to Geoff, he was working on a kit for the 4 pots - again best to ask him direct for details and a price.
Thanks
Gavin

Gavin,
The mounting of the subaru 2pot and 4pot calipers are identical. As the 4pots will accept slightly wider disks and the disk size you qouted (325 x 28) fits the 2 pots then surely the same brackets and disks could be used with the 4 pots???
Andrew...

Spoke to Geoff this am,
Hi Spec calipers will be ready in @ 3/52 in both 4 pots & 6 pots,
using the same type of pads as AP items, ie large choice of pads.
Geoff said that the first batch may be reduced by @ 10% as an intorduction type offer. He is also happy that the quality will be as good as AP. He's spent alot of time & detail on the seals of the pistons
Estimated cost should be £900 for the 4 pots & @ £100 more for 6 pots. The disk are unlikely to be cross-drilled but grooved.
So if like me your interested keep an eye on his website
