On a standard UK MY00 4 door, Tyres Northampton recommended I run mine at 31psi all round.

I would have said 31 was too low for 17". I found the best compromise was 36 front, 34 rear. Tyres wore evenly, grip was tremendous, but ride not too harsh.

I've found 34 psi front & 33psi rear has worked really well for me. 31psi is way to low for hard driving, you will just scrub the edge of the tyre away in no time.

I found that 36psi up front just wore the centre to quickly and hardened the ride to much.

Hope that helps dude.

Tyres Northampton also took two and a half hours to realise they couldn't change two tyres, so I would take their technical knowledge with a pinch of salt - unless it was just appaling customer service??

31psi sounds like the recommendation for 16". Even Prodrive recommend 34/32 for their 17" wheels/tyre settings, and that is on a higher profile tyre (45 rather than 40)

I was told to run mine at 32psi (front) 33psi (rear), by the dealer and ScoobySport. Seems to do the job.

I've since changed to 33psi all round. No really difference!! Just easier to remember!!!

On what tyres? I ran my S02's at 36psi for 40000miles - most on motorway, and got near perfectly even wear, if anything the edges wore quicker? or maybe thats just my driving

Hi all

I was just wondering how you can be so precise about what pressures you run considering that they change by so much in normal use.

My pressures change by 5-10 psi depending on how hard i've been driving the car and I struggle to notice any difference.
If somebody set up a blind test do you think you could tell The difference a couple of psi makes?.I don't think I could.

Andy

Higher pressure at the rear?? there have been very well documented, catastrophic instances of snap over-steer when rear pressure is higher than front.

I run my 225/35/18 S02 PP's with 44psi front and rear. Gets even wear except for inside fronts which disappear because of the suspension geometry (nonadjustable part of it).

Feels hard though. Had a puncture last summer and the tire-fixer-guy asked if I used too little pressure because of the loose tiredust inside the tire.... LOL It must have been from hard cornering I suppose.
