Due to a dented rim or 2 I am now looking at a new set of wheels.I have been using 17" speedlines and Bridgestones, but are now considering 18" speedlines from Scoobysport.

The car is a UK MY99 with standard 2 pots.

Who has had experience of 182 wheels good and bad.

Use is varied from motorway to the odd track day or seven.

Feedback gratefully received.

I have 18" wheels (compomotives) and have found them to be very good.

Drawbacks are: A harsher ride compared to 16" wheels.
More probablility of denting/bending wheels (though the compomotives won't be bent easily).
More weight maybe.
But: Faster cornering, better looks and room for bigger brakes. Easier to clean because of more clearance for brakes (if you don't fit 360mm discs that is).

Hope this helps some.

18`s ?

Look good......

Allows BIG BIG brakes.....

Weigh a lot......

Suspension needs sorted before using them.....

Easily kerbed `cause of 35 profile tyres.....

Brakes look puny.......

Speedline GT1 Lites don't weight much - will be lighter than a std 01 17".

Believe the weight of a 7.5x18 is 8.5-9kg

Do you have to do anything to the car for 18" wheels to fit in the arches without them rubbing on anything?

Not if the offset is right. You may have problems with certain tyres, but 225/35/18 P zeros are fine, as are 215/35/18 Toyos.

You can only fit 225/35ZR18 Pzero on the earlier cars with a tiny mod to the rear bumper mount. Full instructions are provided along with front stone deflectors when you order the wheels and tyres from your dealer.

225/40 will not fit but does fit very nicely on the 01MY WRX.

Thanks for the replies.

I have decided to stick with 17's and use the money saved to get Brembo /AP brake upgrade.
