Do you use anti scream plated with EBC red ?
#1
The original front pad's on a MY99, has two anti scream plates mounted on each pad. One is unpainted solid steel and the other is with a lot of slots and either painted or covered with a plastic material.
My question is do you use dhem when you mount EBC red or green stuff ( or similar)
My problem is that the slotted plate has started to melt and fuse with the paint on the back side of the pad. I assume it has been a bit hot after a track day.

EBC REDSTUFF PADS DO NOT COME WITH ANTI-SQUEAL SHIMS MOUNTED ON THE BACK OF THE PAD
AS THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME THE PADS DO NOT SQUEAL!!!HOWEVER SHOULD THIS PROBLEM OCCUR
A SELF ADHESIVE SHIM IS AVAILABLE FROM SEJOC

Sejoc, thanks for your answer
I did the mistake to reuse the anti-squeal plates from the original Subaru pads together with EBC greenstuff, this is a bad combination, as the anti squeal plate with slots melt together with the paint of the brakepads. I'll remove the plates before my next track day.
By the way I'm bedding in a set of red stuff ( done 150 KM), and I feel them OK for normal road use, even when cold they deliver a good response and at least same brake force as standards pads.

I have decided to use the original solid metal anti-squeal plate with my red stuff. Reason is that I don't want the red paint from the pad to melt together with the pistons in the caliber. It's more easy to clean the plate than the piston. I don't think there is any disadvantage in using the original plate.
After 400 km and some havy braking I'm still satisfied with my red-stuff, they are great-stuff.

386 miles on my redstuffs and turbo groove disks so far, already feels much better than the standard setup. Progressive nature is really apparent.
On my OEM parts there were two shims on each pad, the outer shim didn't fit onto the redstuff pad so I left it off, there was also a small clip on the corner of the pad which didn't seem to do anything so I left that off as well. Only shim I left on was the one that fitted, zero problems.
Lars, I used to live in Copenhagen, next time I'm there I'll let you know if you like.
Steve.

Have just fitted my red stuff pads without
the original shims and have had no problems
so far with vibration/squeal etc. Only had
them in for two days though so will let you
know how I get one.
Cheers

Hmmmmm,
Just done the Elvington track day.
Bedded my EBC Red stuff in as best I could,
4 X 20 mins sessions at Elvington, pad
material remaining = 2mm.
£97 - gone.
No brake fade or anything though and they felt really good.
Tyres were completely shagged as well.
Went from 3mm of tread (RE010's) to
minus 3mm (wore through the first layer
of braiding.
Champion day all round though.
p.s. didn't use the anti squeal plates and
they didnt squeal at all.
