215/45/17s - will they fit on an MY99 Classic with standard setup?

I'm running them on MY00 UK spec but with P1 suspension which probably controls the compressions better. They rarely catch even with 450 BHP driven with average enthusiasm, my friend T-uk driving my car regularly would need the arches rolled because he is a lunatic. I had to unclip the rubbers from the rear arches.
They will make the speedo read slightly lower, about 3% IIRC - probably more realistically, but lengthen the gearing a bit, which on a 2.0 engine is probably a bad thing, but suits my torquey 2.5.

Neither
You're better with 215/40R17 if you can, 45 will definitely catch badly with std suspension in a loaded up wagon driven like a lunatic at 120 mph over wild compressions. If they will catch in your normal use I can't possibly say.

if you have never made 215/45/17's catch the arch on a MY99 then you dont drive anywhere near the cars capabilities. On my 1st scoob, they would also catch around right handers, and ocassionaly over bumpy roads.
