Racing tyre pressures: Kumho V70's
I have an Sti v3 which I seriously hill climb.
The tyres are my second set of Kumho v70a in soft compound, 205 x 40 x 16's.
Raced hard last weekend and this one, but they seem 'cold' after a run. My first set of Medium grade Kumho on 17's ran much hotter.
I ran the 17's @ 35 psi and have tried the 16's at 30, 33 and 34 psi.
Anyone have a suggestion why the tyres are not warming-up?

not had much experience of Kumho's tarmac tyres, but the tyre pressure you are using seems quite high for a "cold" pressure, most "slick" type tyres run best at around 30-33psi "HOT" pressure, obviously it takes a little time to learn the correct pressure to start them at cold to reach your desired target pressure - seen as weather and air temp. greatly change you starting point..........
the lower start pressure will allow the tyre to heat quicker generally
speak to Kumho's tech guys if your in doubt

Thanks! Trouble is most times people do not fully understand hill climbs so you get mixed messages. BMTR, Avon dealers, have said exactly the same as you. We only get 2 practice runs so not much time to mess about. Racing again in 2 weeks, but will try a 28 psi start point.

Funny you should say that.....
The car has Green Stuff all round which seem about as good as the stock ones that came out 18 months ago!
Carbon Metallics?
Or what?
Need sharp brakes from cold!
