Question Please Clarify... 18" Rim Tyres

Based on Toyo T1s Tyres!

Currently i am using tyre size 225/35/18, the rears rub when i have people in the car..

Have been advised to go for 215/40/18, to make the gap between the tyres and the arches to a minimal, also i assume would make the ride smoother...

Now my car is not lowered, and did not want to order 4 new tyres and find that they rub, as 40 profiles are thicker then 35...

Any thoughts welcome..

Hi Sam,
Still thinking it over then? My 215 40 18's (on OZ WRC-1) will just catch on the back with 4 in the car over a bad bump, but never rub 2 up over anything. I think its the width that gets em, as the rear wheelarches get narrower towards the top.
The difference between the two isn't massive, in that a worn 40 profile depth will probably look like a new 35 profile, so we are talking subtle differences here. Hope you get sorted either way. Cheers, Daz

My friend has them (not on a scoob) and is very happy with them. I have ridden in it and they grip well, seem predictable on and over the limit wet or dry.

But that said, I have read mixed reports on them on subarus. Cant help any more than that I'm afraid. Ask around. Don't know anywhere in London as its 200miles away. Daz

it depends on how the chassis is setup and if your geometry is any good. The toyo's can be cr@p on one car and good on another. Another variable is the driver.

Personally I didn't like the T1s on 17's. I'm a little disappointed with my Eagles on 18" rims. They're not as good as the old Eagles GSD2's, but still better than the Toyo's in the wet.

To be honest, both were fine for fast road driving albeit the Toyo's kept me on my toes more.
