Unhappy Front brake rattle/clunk on brakeing

Just has replacement calipers fitted, and new OEM standard pads. Having driven a few miles now, I've noticed the pads rattle or clunk when I brake. Years ago we used to need shims to stop this. Do i need shims for the front of my MY99 Scoob??? Or are the pads just a crap make, and not a very good fit??? Any idea,s guys

have you taken and re-used the shims off your old pads???
have you had the calipers off, have seen the bolts not quite nipped on a few "diy" cars??

Unhappy

Stockcar, I got the car serviced by CAS on the Wirral. I had a nightmare, and so did they with my calipers. They sent em off for repair, and they disappeared, so they got me another used pair. I supplied the standard front pads. The ones I bought arnt any particular make, just a motor factor type. So, I dont know if they re-fitted the shims or not. All's i know, is that they rattle like hell, and clunk when a brake. Im not gonna bother going back to CAS, as they had my car over a week, and to be honest, Ive not got a lot of confidence with them. My mate had his MY00 serviced at the same time, and his aint too clever now either. I would rather someone give me an idea what to look for, and sort it myself. Cheers

can you take a photo of the front brakes looking from the back of the caliper? You will need to take the wheel off to do this.

we're in Newcastle so probs not much help to you...............
not sure how far away he is but try Howard at HDC subaru
http://www.hdcsubaru.com/contact.html

either that or Prosport seem to have a good name, nearer Manchester area i believe

sounds like the shims are most likely missing if you got s/hand calipers on their own........

Cheers for the relies guys! I think I'll try and get some shims and fit them. Surely CAS would of done this though??? Oh well, I'll wait for some good weather, and then have a bash Thanks again
