can someone please give me a moron proof guide to bleeding brakes?
please don't laugh but i've never bled brakes in my life
had new front discs and pads with new fluid fitted a few weeks ago and not entirely happy with pedal feel and want to have a crack myself.
i was in the car pumping the pedal while he was bleeding, but what was the procedure of what he was doing?
step by step for the numptie please (ie what size spanners, when to let the fluid out, how many pumps before releasing the fluid. that kind of thing)
ta
by the way, not totally incompetant with cars just want to get 100% clued up to avoid any **** ups
edit - not to worry guys, done what i should have done in the first place and did a google search. first page had all the info i need.
down side is, this is what me and my mate did to the letter it would seem

not doubting your competence but for obvious reasons of possible mis-interpretation i would only recommend you to read up on correct procedure from a textbook. brakes are the one thing you dont want to get wrong.

easy peasy method
by a gunson ezi bleed and lots of brake fluid
halfrauds about £20
follow the instructions...it is dead easy
and you could change all your brake fluid at the same time
it will make a difference
good luck...

Basically what was happening is that as you push on the pedal, he opens the bleed nipple on the caliper and fluid comes out. This expelled fluid may have air bubbles in it or be old, and could cause a spongy pedal. New fluid is drawn through from the resovoir (which must be kept topped up) to replace it.
Then he closed the bleed nipple as soon as the flow stops, and you release the pedal. This prevents air being drawn back in.
This was probably repeated several times at each caliper to ensure that all old fluid or air bubbles are removed.
Hope that helps a bit, Daz
