Should front and rear pads be upgraded together

Should front and rear pads be upgraded together
As it says really.
I am looking to udgrade the fronts from std subaru pads to either EBC Red ceramic, Yellow R or Pagid 421's.
If I didn't upgrade the rears would I notice a different behaviour or problems under braking.
The reason for the upgrade is the annual pilgrimage to the 'Ring, so a couple of days hardish use, which saw the std pads/brakes smoking quite heavily last yr .
BTW I will also be upgrading to DOT 5.1 fluid !

Ideally, yes.
If cash does not permit, then just upgrading the fronts should be ok, but where possible you should have same compounds front and rear to keep brake balance correct.

Sorry for the late reply.
Yes, if you are intending to do the ring for 2 days on the same pads you want to use everyday, then the Yellowstuff "R" compound.
