Default wobbley steering at seventy?

after a little advice guys
had a puncture on saturday,so replaced the front near side tyre and had both front wheels balanced whilst car was in the tyre place, since then mt car's steering and feedback seems a little Figity/light,and when the car hit's around 70 the steering shakes a little, but come's fine when up to 80

any idea's as to problem,am thinking wheel balancing out?

Could depend on how much tread you have on the original front off-side tyre compared to the new tread on the new tyre.

Was advised by the garage that when I had my rear quarter tyre replaced due to a puncture to have another new one (Same Make of tyre etc..) on the opposite side to keep the tread wear the same. And thus keep the car balanced as it is a 4 wheel drive car, and having differernt tred and makes of tyre was not a good thing.

If it feels shakey at one speed then balancing is out on at least one of the wheels.....

Then again - who wants to do 70 anyway????

If the steering is strange check the tyre pressures. Flighty/light might mean over inflated.

Just had two new ones on the missus car, checked pressures and one was 28psi the other 34psi - seems the tyre place wasn't too fussy lol. Put them both to the correct 31psi and even she noticed the difference in steering straight away.
