Default ABS Light On MY98 - Fault Codes Diagnosis Possible?

ABS light came on a few days ago out of the blue. It comes on as normal with two clicks of the ignition, goes out for about 2 seconds and then comes back on again - even before the car is started/moved.

Spent all day today trying to diagnose the fault, had each wheel off inspecting the sensors. Cleaned everything up with a wire brush and WD40 etc lovely. Still got the ABS light on though.

What i was wondering was whether or not it was possible to grab some fault codes from the ABS ECU on a MY98 UK? I've never had to diagnose any faults like this on an Impreza before so have absolutely no idea how to do it. All help appreciated hugley!

Hi Carl, sorry to hear your having problems with your car. Are you changing your brakes back to the oe setup? you could try and read the fault code(if there any) by connecting the connectors under the dash

By the way did you manage to box up and send me the headers and dumpvalve adaptor?

regards

Andy

The annoying thing is i'm leaving the brakes on. Which connectors is it under the dash? Is there a guide somewhere?

Headers etc are boxed up ready to be mailed Andy. Took me the best part of an hour to package them!

Hi There

Just a thought have you checked your brake lights.

On my 95 i had the light come on and was tearing my hair out when i noticed that both brake lights had failed!!!!

Replaced with ignition off when i turned back on light had gone out and normal braking was resumed.
