Can i mix Toyo T1-R's with Eagle F1's?
...as above, i need two new front 205/50/16 tyres on my Classic.
Can i put two new Proxes T1-R tyres on the front while i have my old Eagle f1's on the back?...or is it advisable to stick with the same brand all round?
Thanks.
Yes
However if the old tyres are well worn then not adviseable due to the FWD system. The rolling diameter of the newer tyres will be greater due to having more tread and can cause problems with the difs (i think)

Pretty much the same answer as Gary - Golden rule - don't mix tyres on the same axle. Also be careful as some tyres are directional - that means that you can't have a spare that fits both sides as it's bound to be wrong for one. The Goodyear F1 is directional - that's why the grooves start from the centre and move to the outer (it helps it move water hence the wet road handling)....
Bear in mind that if you have different brands / model tyres on the front and rear (or when the tyres are low on tread - different wear) then the front and back of the car will have different levels of grip. I'm not an expert on the Toyo's so I don't know if they are directional - if not bear in mind on the limit, in the wet, the non-directional tyres will break away before the directional tyres.
I hope that helps - if not then please feel free to ask away...

Thanks Gary.
I want to try these new Toyo TR-1's and they work out about £20 cheaper then Eagle F1's for a pair from mytyres.co.uk.

Easy to check - look at the tread pattern - if it starts totally from the centre and moves outwards (without doubling back on it's self) then it's directional.

I've got Eagle F1s on the fronts and T1r on the rear - can't put my finger on exactly what it is, but the rear doesn't seem as "glued-to-the-road" as with the Eagles. Yes, they're a good tyre, but for the extra £20 (from mytyres!), I wish I gone for another pair of Eagles.
Perhaps it's just that I'm used to the Eagles, but will now stick with the Toyos and replace the fronts with them when required.
MY99 btw.

My 2 turned up this morning from mytyres.net, 4 days ahead of the date they gave!! Looks a good tyre and only when you see a new tyre do you realise how bald a tyre with about 2 mm left looks!!

May'be i will stick with Eagles after all.
I do like them and they do stick like glue around corners....even when well worn as mine are.
BTW...My new geometry/allignment has probably helped more then anything ever has in keeping me glued and flat around the bends. What a staggering difference it has made to my car. My 247bhp/253lbs torque suddenly feels a whole lot more through the bends and roundabouts.
Big pat on the back for Roger Clark Motorsport!
