Question 18's that will clear my Brembos...

Got a MY98 Sti Type R... Got Brembos off the Sti8's on the front...
At the moment its got 17's on, not sure on the offset, but spacers have been needed to get the wheels to clear the calipers, but these make the wheels stick out to far, causing alittle catching on the rears...
I wanna put 18's on, is there any wheels out there ( which arn't gold ) which will fit straight on which will sort my arch problem out, and clear my brakes...
Not really fussed on what style, just wanna know what will got straight on at the moment...

That's quite a question you got there

Off the top of my head I would say O.Z Racing Superleggera, Speedline Turini,
Rota Tarmac 2 and PF7's

Check Scoobyworlds site out it is quite informative

clicky

PFF7's and the replicas are the right offset for classic and obveously clear new age Brembo's.

That also suit the car quite well IMHO.

Above wheels do look very tasty. Whats the driveability like - I'm assuming 18", 225, 40 tyres. I'm thinking of fitting brembos too, but don't want to compromise the handling as currently on 17", 215, 45.

Ta!

I used to have 215/45/17 on the car before and only changed wheels because of the brake, I find that turn in is a little better than the 17" and the ride is ever so slightly firmer not as bad as i thought it would be.

PS the tyres on now are 215/35/18 and to be honest next time i will go for 215/40/18 as there is plenty of room for them not sure on the 225's though you may get some rubbing on the rears, unless you have a bug/blob.

Yep, its an '03 wrx blobby. Bit concerned that 225's could make it tramline.

Where did you get yours from, also... noticed you've painted the calipers, how you manage to keep the Brembo logo on them???
Anyone else got Brembos on the classic with 18's?...

I've got WRX Type-R 1998 fitted with Crono's 18 OZ Racing wheels, the OZ web site has a good range. They look the Dawgs B**ll**KS and Proflex suspension.

Check off-set of wheels for impreza.

I got the callipers from a guy on here a good deal to, front and rear calipers + 2x front disc's and 1x rear disc with brand new DS2500 pads for £300.

As for the colour change i sent them to Godspeed and had the serviced with new seals etc and had them painted with new stickers at the same time, went for the yellow as i've not seen a Subaru with yellow calipers yet, maybe the start of a new trend.

RoRu... your car looks great with the PFF7's on and the Brembo's also, a couple of quick questions for you matey. Firstly what springs have you fitted.... have you had any rear rubbing issues or are your rear arches rolled ?
Finally what offset do the PFF7's run... are they the same for new age and classic or is it a case that luckly enough they also fit the classic ?

I'm running a MY00 on standard shocks but H&R springs and she sits quite low, I've been considering 18's in the future and it seems quite complex on what I can run with the car quite low.... it seems 215 with a 35 wall is the way most classic owners go.
I hope you don't mind me asking on your thread Scoobyslammed

My car has Eibach spring on std STi dampers (soon to be changed for some AST coilovers) with no arch mods I'm not sure on the off set of the wheels but I've had no problems with tyres rubbing even with 4 adult in the car, although H&R spring are a little lower that the Eibachs.

As for tyres on my set up i think i could get away with 215/40/18 without any issues.

Andy.

Thanks for that Andy.... I tried a set of 215/40/18's on but they rubbed on the one rear arch they were a 45 off set if I remember correct, mind you I am sitting low.
