Toyo Proxes T1-R feel funny
Recently changed my tyres on the back of my MY01 WRX bug eye to Proxes T1-R. I normally have the T1-S' all round.
Since the rears have been changed to T1-Rs I have noticed the handling of the car at the rear has changed dramatically. The tyres still grip well but round bends the back end dosn't feel as stable as it used to. It feels like the back isnt as weel linked to the front when driving, almost like its following the front rather than working together. Its hard to explain, but as you go round long fast bends it feels like it wants to jump out a bit.
Could it be anything to do with the extra rubber making the diameter of tyre wider than fronts as they will need replacing before winter but are fine at the mo?
Or maybe its the tyres themselves, its say they are reinforced, so are the tyre walls stiffer than the T1-Ss? If so I dont like the ride.
Im gonna switch the new rears to the front and put fronts on the back to see how they drive at the front end.
Anyone any other thoughts as to why the handling has changed so much with just the replacement of the rear tyres with a very similar tyre?

I did replace my 4 T1-S with 4 Rs and I do think they are an improvement. Have only done approx 2k on them so far but they seem to get better and better.

I have the T1-R's all round and I really like the characteristics. The wet and dry grip is fantastic and they respond instantly to changes in direction. Could be they need wearing in a little more or maybe the different rubber front/ rear just doesn't work?

I had 2 225/45/18 T1-R's fitted to the rear yesterday as the rears were down to the tread wear indicator. Fronts are still on the standard RE040's but down to about 3 mm.
Only done about 50 mile on them but i had a very similiar feeling as you when driving and not driving it hard either.
Bit the bullet and ordered 2 more fro etyres who are coming to fit them tomorrow afternoon. Front left had an annoying slow puncture anyway tyres are 3 yrs (33k) old so looking a bit 'tyred'

Same feeling as me when not driving hard. They feel like they want kind of topple over, its not very encouraging when driving.
With them fitted to the front you can give us a better opinion of how the suite the impreza.

I had the exact same feelings when I replaced my existing Eagle F1 rears with the T1r. Felt very wierd when going around corners.
They*seem* to be getting better though with age, but tbh, at present, for the extra £20, I wish I'd have gone for some more Eagles....
However, I'm willing to give these a chance, and when the fronts need changing, I'll get some more Toyos, and reserve a final judgement until then

i canged to the T1-s's after having RE070's. I've found that the tyres almost leans in cornering -though the RE0's do have a very hard side way.
Either way it does make the car less stable in heavy cornering

Well Etyres came to the house and fit the other 2 T1-Rs to the front, I highly recommend them as they only took 30mins while a garage i went to took about 90mins as they couldnt get the RE040's off.
Anyway i've only done a few miles just to check the balancing was ok but with all 4 on the car feels better than it did with just the rears done. Steering feels a little lighter now though and turns into corners quicker. I havent pushed it but they do flex a little when going into corners and initially loading them up but still give plenty of confidence and the grip they had in the rain was brilliant!
