Has anyone had issues with Toyo T1-R's
We have had issues with the car feeling like its steering from behind...
didn't do that with the T1-S's.
Its as if the tyrewall is too soft...car feels very dangerous.
There is about 10 people on passionford with a simular problem...
just wondered if anyone else has had issues

I had 2 T1-R's fitted to the rear with RE040s on the front and it felt strange but a few days ago i got the fronts done as well and its much better.
Side walls are softer than the RE040's but harder than T1-S's as they are reinforced.
I've only done aboutt 50 miles on them now but it feels ok to me, more grip in the wet thats for sure.

Yes defo more grip that before in the wet and a straight line, but bends it feels horrible...
going to go and do some doughnuts in it tonight to take the edge off and see if they get any better.

Done 12k in mine and still fine. Better in the wet than T1-s and also wearing better. Obvious point I know but check your pressure if they feel rolly they might just be too soft.

The only problem with mine is a lot more road noise. But as I changed from 16" to 17" wheels at the same time I can't tell what's causing the noise.

Im currently running mine at 33/31 but am going to try 34/32 next week to see if theres much different. Done about 150 miles in them now so starting to push them more. They do feel softer going into corners but it holds the road well and gets around them. Think it'll just take some confidence building with them

Mine where a bit rolly when I first had them fitted strange when they are supposed to be reinforced tyre walls. I've done about 5k in them now. They really do grip well. I think it is a confidence thing. They seem to screech abit more than the previous ones but I DO really push em. But for the price can't fault em.
Think I might try some Michelin PS2's next time.

I had a similar problem with a set of T1-Ss a few years ago. Two of a batch of 4 tyres had softer sidewalls then the other two, leading to some very strange handling effects/feeling.
After getting the suspension & alignment all checked out, I swapped the tyres from front to rear and found the problem changed. Straight back to the tyre shop who swapped them over for Bridgestones (S03s) which were much better.
I didn't have the same problem with my previous Toyos, but I've not bought another set since.

Even going around a roundabout at a sensible speed you can hear them make a strange 'tearing' noise and if you push it a little more they screeching is awful. Is this because they are still relatively new or just a very very soft rubber compared to the RE040's ?
I've altered the pressures to 34/32 but the tyre wall still seems to flex too much. With the RE040's if doing a roundabout fast it would drift a little, but so far with these its felt like it bunny hopped on a couple of occasions. Only way to describe it. They gripped, squeeled and then car seemed to jump to the left slightly.
Hopefully will get better but so far if given the choice again i'd like me RE040's back!

have serious concerns about the unstable feeling at back of car, with the t1rs fitted. had to drive across lower parts of exmoor to take car for a service and when i made quick adjustments to the steering and "evasive" steering moves, the rear of the car seems to float and flex alarmingly. this wasnt at particularly high speeds either. tried the same moves in subaru justy courtesy car the garage loaned me and that felt much more stable in comparison! Although i probably had a little less ultimate grip with the previous bridgstone so3, i never had that "floaty" feeling at the back of the car with them so will probably go back to bridgstones next time.

Higher pressures!
In my 225/40/18 Michelins PS2 I have 37-32psi as they have also soft sidewalls.
Very good tires though the T1-R's, I tested them in a friend's car, it depends what you want from your tires, comfort, best handling, less noise etc?
