Question Tyres cracking???

Ive looked at my tires, and around the outside facing edges, cracks are appearing all the way round. The tread is fine, loads left. Any ideas, somebodies hinted that they might be old or over heating?

I've noticed the same on my tires. Tiny hairline type cracks on the outside edges. Don't think its anything to worry about. I'd say it’s probably age related rather than the result of 'abuse'.

Check the manufacturer's site for info on date codes. Generally, much over 4 or 5 years is getting up there in rubber age terms IMHO. And as long as you keep them properly inflated they shouldn't overheat unless they are a very low speed rated tyre.

Scoob tyres dont last long enough for them to get old
Id say check your weight code, possably not strong enough in the sidewall and flexing

Yes I have toyo's on mine and the front left is bald on the outer edge, any ideas why this is. Is it a toyo problem.

Tracking normally, though scoobs can be toed to do this, it gives better grip but wears quicker....

I was actually refering to the cracking problem rather than a wear problem. With 13k the Toyo T1's on my 03 STi had perfectly even wear pattern (Prodrive springs and geometry)
On my previous 99my the Toyo's showed a lot of surface cracking inside the tread, especially at the edges. The sidewalls themselves were fine.

Seen sidewall cracking on a range of different cars. I don't think that this in itself effects the structural integrity of the tyre, however, my concern would be moisture ingression into the steal braiding....

I'm guessing two things: There are a lot of traffic islands in your neck of the woods? and, you have an 'enthusiastic' driving style?! ;-)
