215/35/18 tyres on 8x18 rim
As title really, will a 215/35/18 be ok on a rim that is 8" wide, i'm currently on 225's but would like a bit more arch clearance, so thought off the 215's

They'll fit gut look well stretched and offer very little to no rim protection.

I've been looking into this a lot and as the picture above shows it fits but looks crap. 225 is the correct tyre for a 7.5 inch so depending on the sidewall you'll need even wider for an 8". It'll only cost another 40 or so for the bigger tyre, thats just another night in istead of in the pub!

Looks are one thing but far more important is how the car will handle. As has been said, the 215 - 35's will be quite stretched on 8" rims and the sidewalls will have virtually no flexibility. This might be great for quick turn-in in the dry but may be rather unforgiving in the wet, also, you may not think so now but you'll get a bit fed up with the harshness of the ride?
