Uprated Calipers & Dust/Corrosion Seals
I am seriously looking at getting an upgraded caliper/disk setup, but am worried about some calipers not having dust/corrosion seals.
I have been advised by one company, that this is a bit of a myth...here's their quote :
DIRT SEALS DUST SEALS MUCK SEALS MYTH
These are all terms used and questioned regarding calliper secondary seals. The correct term is corrosion seals These Calipers do not require this problematic seal as the caliper body is a Hard anodised aircraft specification aluminium and incorporates titanium or stainless steel pistons so therefore there is nothing to corrode! However we recommend regular inspection and servicing by trained technctions
-----------------------------------------------------
What are your thoughts ?
Do AP, Prodrive(Alcon), Brembo etc...etc... have dust/corrosion seals ???

Yes all there road calipers have seals , the seal are to stop the dust going into the calipers where the pistons slide back and forth , if you dont have a way of keeping out the dust , they will sieze up , if they didnt need them do you think Brembo or AP would go to the trouble of fitting them , That email is from someone who sells wilwood or those cheap ones on ebay , its more to do with dust than corrosion , why do they say that they do not need seals but require regular check up from trained technitions ?? doesn't make sense !
