Better brake pads?
Just wandered if anyone noticed a difference fitting some fast road pads to a newage sti, if so, what are they and how much??
The local dealer said pads are around 180 squids. Whereas i've been quoted 140 for some Ferrodo 2500.

I've tried EBC and Ferodo DS2000. The EBC performed well, but only lasted 6k miles The Ferodo DS2000 have done more than that already and still have 4-5mm of life in them, perform just as well and were only £90+vat fitted at Scoobyclinic. They are so easy to fit though you could DIY if you can find a better price delivered. I was warned off of DS2500 by Scoobyclinic as they can be unpredictable when cold. Fine as long as you're aware and prepared for it, but if the wife or anyone else occasionally needs to drive it they may find it worrying.

Its the Pagids and the Ferrodo 2500 series that seem to have the most fans on here, with Pagid generally coming out marginally better, but at a higher price.

Edited to add, I just checked and they're the same fitting as Alfa GTV's

I've had Pagid RS-15's on my '02 STi for best part of 20K miles now. Fantastic stopping power, with much better bite than the OEM ones, even from cold.
Brilliant stuff, well worth the circa £180 price.

Have EBC red stuff on mine - very good too - only thing you have to watch out for is that they dont work as well when cold, so you have to be a bit careful with your breaking until they warm up.

Some think that they are re-branded Mintex/Ferrodo. No issues from cold, no more brake dust than usual, and wearing well (no increased disc wear after 8,000 mls either).
Cheers!

Thanks for all the replies. I think i've left it too late now though. It's booked in for thurs, so don't think i can get the pads delivered by then.
I definitely don't want any that do not perform when cold (i'm in scotland ) would not be nice for the wifey, and i'm still trying to win her dissapointment over for spending twice as much as planned and loosing a boot
Pagid RS15, Mintex 1144 (i've had before IIRC) and Ferodo DS2000 seem the best suited for me. Gonna call the garage and ask if they can get the prodrive ones, costs and whether i can supply the pads.
(I hear what your saying corradoboy about DIY, but i'm not a hands-on-type-a-guy. I should really learn/practise .)
