Question Do newage need brake support bracket..?

Do newage scoobs need a brake cylinder bracket, as the classics did, to prevent it moving under heavy braking..?

I was under the impression that the stiffer bulkhead of newage cars rendered them unecessary..! (stand to be corrected)

Easy this YES! I have fitted one to mine and a mates bugeye STi great improvement in conjunction with goodridge hoses. Can be got off e-bay, go to automotive, performance and tuning then narrow search to Subaru then go into brake components easy. As i put in a previous reply when fitting do a dry run or two before actually using spanners. Then fit and enjoy!!!!

When you say in conjunction with Goodridge hoses, did you fit them both together? Or did you fit the support bracket, notice a difference, then fit goodridge hoses and notice further improvement? Or vice versa of course.

General wisdom is that the increased stiffness of the new cars makes the support bracket less necessary. If you fitted the two together then I'd suggest that 99% of the improvement is from the hoses rather than the support bracket.

But if you fitted them separately and can say both were an improvement then I stand corrected.

Hmmm, never heard that the new age had an issue with bulkhead flexing...
